About
TEDxTokyo yz is an off-shoot of TEDxTokyo. “yz” started with a conference on June 19th, 2010 and is growing into a community of entrepreneurial and innovative young doers in the Tokyo area, dedicated to making a positive impact on society and taking concrete steps towards a sustainable future. In addition to following the spirit of TED’s “Ideas worth spreading” within this crowd, we are motivating and enabling talented young people to make a difference as they are just starting their journey. We are doing this by sharing connections, information, forums, and inspiration.
While having comfortable overlap with the TEDxTokyo community, “yz” has developed its own flavor. Although not as a strict rule, “yz” participants tend to be younger and are at earlier stages of their journey. Accordingly, “yz” events and community will be governed more freely and with less exclusivity.
TEDxTokyo yz plans to continue to grow organically after every event, both with regular follow-on events and on-line. We look forward to hearing how we can help you make a difference in the world. Let us know what you think here.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s “ideas worth spreading” mission, enabling local communities to organize, design, & host their own independent TED-like events. The concept has gone viral, and events in more than 60 countries, and a vast number of cities and communities have already been held or are in formative stages. The goal is to spark deep discussions and connections in groups both intimate and expansive.

TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Program, the new TEDx community program, this year’s TEDIndia Conference and the annual TED Prize.
